Twitter said that certain of the social media platform's content creators will be entitled to a share of the advertising revenue that the company generates.

According to Twitter, content creators will receive a portion of the money made from the ads that appear in users' replies. To be eligible, creators must also be verified users who have received at least 5 million impressions on their posts over the course of the previous three months and have a Stripe payment account.

Eligible creators received an automatic email informing them that they will get their part of the advertising revenue in their linked Stripe accounts within the next three days.

According to Twitter, the program and its deployment will be extended to all qualified authors later this month.

"We’re expanding our creator monetisation offering to include ads revenue sharing for creators. This means that creators can get a share in ad revenue, starting in the replies to their posts. This is part of our effort to help people earn a living directly on Twitter. We're rolling out the program more broadly later this month and all eligible creators will be able to apply."

"In a few weeks, X/Twitter will start paying creators for ads served in their replies. First block payment totals $5M. Note, the creator must be verified and only ads served to verified users count," tweeted Musk.

Some of the creators released images of the email after the announcement, demonstrating that they were receiving significant payments for their material and virality. The co-creator of the Dogecoin cryptocurrency, Billy Markus, announced his enormous reward of $37,050. Meanwhile, author Brian Krassenstein claimed that Twitter paid him about $25,000 and that he has over 750,000 followers.

When he first introduced the idea in February, Musk stated the first reimbursement for advertising that appears in content creators' reply threads would be cumulative. Musk announced the payout earlier this week, stating that the initial block of payment was $5 million.

Twitter is making an effort to entice more content producers to its site. The business started allowing users to charge for access to their content earlier this year.

The entrepreneur who purchased Twitter last October, Elon Musk, has previously stated that in the first year, the firm will distribute to authors all subscription earnings, except payment gateway fees.

"In a few weeks, X/Twitter will start paying creators for ads served in their replies. First block payment totals $5M. Note, the creator must be verified and only ads served to verified users count," tweeted Musk.
