Vedanta Group plans to invest approximately $25 billion over the next three years to expand its existing businesses through organic growth and brownfield projects, founder and chairman Anil Agarwal said.

Speaking during a visit to the city, Agarwal said the group's capital expenditure would primarily focus on expanding its aluminium, copper, zinc, oil and gas operations. The company intends to strengthen capacities at its existing facilities rather than rely heavily on new projects.

"We plan to invest approximately $25 billion," Agarwal said, adding that the group would remain open to acquiring public sector assets if suitable opportunities arise.

The investment program is part of Vedanta's broader ambition to become one of the world's largest mining companies in critical metals and emerge as a leading global silver producer over the next three to four years.

The conglomerate, which comprises 10 major businesses, aims to increase its combined business size from $30 billion to $50 billion within the next three years.

Addressing concerns over debt, Agarwal described the group's debt levels as manageable and said internal cash generation would support its ongoing capital expenditure plans. He stated that Vedanta Resources, the parent company, had debt of nearly $5 billion, backed by assets valued at more than $100 billion.

According to Agarwal, dividends from majority-owned businesses and strong cash flows from subsidiaries would be sufficient to service the debt.

Renewable energy is another major focus area for the group. Vedanta currently has approximately 5,000 MW of renewable energy capacity and plans to add another 5,000 MW over the next 12 to 18 months.

Agarwal also highlighted the group's focus on creating long-term value, with investments spanning both natural resources and technology infrastructure.
