Andhra CM Naidu Lays Foundation for Google AI Data Centre, Vizag
Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu initiated the construction of a major Google Cloud India Artificial Intelligence (AI) center, which is being established by Google in Visakhapatnam.
The initiative, which is being carried out in collaboration with AdaniConneX and Airtel's Nxtra, is a component of Google's planned $15 billion investment in India from 2026 to 2030, amounting to roughly Rs 1.35 lakh crore.

The AI hub will cover 601.4 acres spread over three key sites, such as Rambilli in the Anakapalli district, and Adavivaram and Tarluvada in the Visakhapatnam district. Of the entire area, Tarluvada village comprises 266.6 acres, Rambilli has 174.8 acres, and Adavivaram covers 160 acres. Once finished, the project is anticipated to create approximately 3,000 direct technical jobs.
The cornerstone event in Tarluvada village was graced by the presence of Ashwini Vaishnaw, the Union Minister for Electronics and Information Technology, along with Nara Lokesh, the State IT Minister. Also in attendance were senior officials from Google Cloud, the Adani Group, and Bharti Enterprises.
Imagined as a large-scale, one-gigawatt data center ecosystem spread across three campuses, the facility aims to support high-performance computing, artificial intelligence tasks, and extensive digital services.
AdaniConneX and Nxtra by Airtel will be responsible for developing the main infrastructure, which includes the data center buildings and connectivity systems. In his speech, Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu referred to the event as the start of a new technological era for Andhra Pradesh, saying that Google's arrival signifies a significant transformation for Visakhapatnam and the State.

Drawing a parallel with the growth of Cyberabad, he claimed that North Andhra is undergoing a comparable shift propelled by extensive digital infrastructure. He also mentioned that April 28, 2026, will be a significant landmark in the development history of the State. He emphasized the importance of completing the project on time and encouraged all stakeholders, including partner organizations, to finish it by September 2028, promising full support from the State government.
He also expressed his belief that Visakhapatnam will become a global hub for AI and data, bolstered by robust infrastructure, sufficient energy resources, and a strong investment drive. He also mentioned that incorporating advanced technologies, such as artificial intelligence, would improve the efficiency of governance in the State in the future.

Visakhapatnam will soon be known as 'AI-patnam,'" he stated. Highlighting India’s increasing role in technology, the Minister pointed out that the nation has become a worldwide leader in IT services and has also made notable advances in electronics manufacturing.
Mobile phones have now become India’s major export, and we are fulfilling a significant part of our domestic needs domestically,” he commented, further noting that India is gradually establishing itself as a center for electronics design and semiconductor development.
He mentioned the continuing initiatives under the Semiconductor Mission, noting that large-scale production has started and that India is becoming a trustworthy partner in the worldwide electronics supply chain. He encouraged technology firms to increase domestic production of servers and associated hardware and urged Google to contemplate manufacturing essential components like servers, GPUs, and chips in India.
