EaseMyTrip, a travel-tech platform online, initiated its electric bus services in Bhopal via its electric mobility division, Easy Green Mobility (EMTev). The deployment, revealed on Friday, reinforces the company's bold "Vision 2030" strategy, in which it intends to establish an annual production capacity of 5,000 electric buses over the next five years.

The electric bus initiative is based on the operational experience of YOLO Bus, the operating division of EMTev, which presently manages traditional intercity services in various markets in southern India. The company's strategy includes vehicle production, fleet management, service assistance, and gradual localization of parts.

Manoj Soni, CEO of EMTev, stated, “At EMT EV, we aim to develop electric buses for both intra- and intercity travel that integrate long-range batteries, quick charging, enhanced safety features, and passenger comfort, all while providing a much lower operating cost. Our goal is to create a scalable mobility framework that can facilitate India's transition to cleaner and more efficient transport.”

EMTev’s first electric bus is a 12-meter electric coach created to accommodate 45 passengers in addition to the driver. The coach features an LFP battery with a total capacity of 423.9 kWh, a PMSM motor, air suspension, and EHPS steering, providing a range of as much as 350 km and a maximum speed of 100 km/h. Moreover, the buses come with EBS and ESC, as well as camera-based surveillance systems.

EMTev is also working on AI-driven driver monitoring and blind-spot detection functionalities, incorporating ADAS features as part of its overall technology strategy. Currently, the company's priority is to meet promised electric bus deliveries while enhancing the operational and service framework necessary for future expansion. EMTev also prioritizes the gradual localization of electric vehicle components.

The electric buses aim to offer a substitute for traditional diesel-powered transport and aid in reducing reliance on fossil fuels, while also enhancing operational efficiency in intercity travel.
