Domestic card company Genesys International Ltd. signed an agreement with Survey of India to use its resources to build digital twins of the country's major cities.

This gives Genesys International access to the technology and information resources developed by the Survey of India since its inception in 1767.

Indian inspector Hitesh Kumar Makwana said that this is the first Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) that the department has entered into with a private company to develop geospatial content and encouraged other players to collaborate with it to use the resources available in the department.

"In line with the National Geospatial Policy 2022, the Survey of India (SoI) has started collaborating with Genesys International industry to provide geospatial content created in relation to the National Geodetic Framework. SoI is ready to work with industry partners to use modern measurement techniques and leverage the expertise of the Indian private sector," says Makwana.

We created a 2D navigation map of the entire country and a 3D map of about 10 cities. We created a real-time view for Google and worked with other companies that use the map to provide services to end customers

Genesys has developed its own technology to create 3D (three-dimensional) map versions that can display buildings with a 2D map layer.

“The created 3D Digital Twin is used in the ministries for various new projects. Combining our CORS technology with private sector surveying expertise will improve the usability and reliability of geospatial data, opening up new opportunities for India's development. We are looking for future opportunities for this SoI-Industry collaboration and it would be useful for wider public needs,” says Makwana.

Sajid Malik, president and CEO of Genesys International, says the collaboration with SoI will help the company store and use SoI data, which is highly accurate.

“We created a 2D navigation map of the entire country and a 3D map of about 10 cities. We created a real-time view for Google and work with other companies that use the map to provide services to end customers, “ Malik says.
