Giriraj Singh Urges States to Implement Investor-Friendly Policy

Union Textiles Minister Giriraj Singh stated that the Centre is focused on maintaining ongoing growth in the sector and encouraged states to draw in more investments in this area.

During the opening session of the two-day National Textiles Ministers' Conference in Sonapur, near Guwahati, Singh stated, The Union government is steadily and balancedly striving to align production, exports, and sustainability in the textile industry.

He stated that the conference seeks to promote brainstorming, innovation, and idea exchange to assist in creating a solid plan for enhancing the nation's textile industry.

Singh encouraged the textile ministers of states to create investment-friendly policies and highlighted the importance of drawing in more investments at the state level.

He conveyed optimism that the two-day discussions would facilitate progress.

Textile ministers and high-ranking officials from states and Union Territories (UTs) throughout the country will be discussing the future strategy of India's textile industry at the conference.

Hosted by the Ministry of Textiles, the conference is taking place under the theme 'India's Textiles: Weaving Growth, Heritage, and Innovation'.

In his opening remarks, Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Mohan Yadav stated that the textile sector is experiencing swift progress and that the creative talents of the nation’s artisans warrant improved access to international markets.

He asserted that the conference will deliver a thorough blueprint for strategizing upcoming initiatives to boost the industry's growth.

Union MoS for Textiles Pabitra Margherita stated in his address that through communication and collaboration between representatives of the Centre and state governments, the conference will allow the industry to enhance its footprint in the global market.

He claimed that with Prime Minister Narendra Modi at the helm, India aims to create a USD 350 billion textile industry.

The opening session also included the launch of an exhibition and pavilion highlighting India's textile prowess, creativity, and cultural legacy

Citing the Handloom Census 201920, Margherita pointed out that the Northeastern region produces the most handloom items in the nation, making up approximately 52 percent of the overall output.

Secretary of Textiles, Neelam Shami Rao, stated that the industry remains vital in the country's social and economic landscape, with nearly 500 districts throughout the nation exporting various textile products to international markets.
