Global FMCG Majors Boost India Investments, Expand Retail Reach
Global consumer goods manufacturers have noted robust consumer demand and increased market share in India during the June quarter, emphasizing India's significance as a long-term growth driver and revealing intentions to boost investments to enhance their foothold in one of the fastest-growing consumer markets globally.
Global consumer products giants like Mondelez International, L'Oreal, Reckitt, Unilever, Nestle, and The Coca-Cola Company view India as a crucial growth market and a significant contributor to future expansion.
During their earnings calls, the company’s executives highlighted strong consumer demand, speeding up premiumization, broadening distribution channels, emphasis on budget-friendly packs, robust digital and e-commerce performance, and increasing market share in various categories within India.
American snack giant Mondelez International, producer of brands like Oreo, Cadbury Dairy Milk, and Toblerone, reported that demand stayed "solid" in India in the second quarter of 2026 and that it increased its retail presence by incorporating an additional 1,00,000 stores in the nation.

"Overall, I would say that consumer confidence in emerging markets is stable and quite positive. India is extremely robust," stated Mondelez Chairman and CEO Dirk Van de Put during the company's earnings call.
French cosmetics manufacturer L'Oreal announced that its operations in India kept growing in the initial half of 2026.
Extending a "Special shout-out" to India, where there was a robust increase of over 70 percent in the June quarter, surpassing the market, stated its CEO Nicolas Hieronimus.
