To support non-governmental organizations (NGOs) fighting climate change and preserving biodiversity throughout the Americas, HCLTech created a program named the HCLTech Grant program.

The program has been assisting NGOs with their grassroots innovations in climate action for the past eight years and is now being introduced in the Americas.

Headquartered in Noida, the company pledged $5 million over five years towards the initiative.

Every year, after a thorough screening process, three NGOs with cutting-edge and long-lasting projects will be chosen to receive grants totaling $1 million. According to their press release, one NGO will receive $500,000 and the other two will each receive $250,000.

“We are deeply committed to our sustainability goals and believe that collective effort is required to combat the challenge of climate change. Through this program, we aim to accelerate innovation in climate projects and build a sustainable planet. Our ambition is to identify organizations that are truly making an impact at the grassroots and help them scale their unique projects,” said Nidhi Pundhir, vice president of global corporate social responsibility at HCLTech.

Over five million people have benefited from the HCLTech Grant, which has an impact on over 27,000 villages in 22 Indian states.

According to reports, the IT major will organize a number of virtual regional round-tables to inform NGOs about the program and help them with the application.

Through this relationship, a framework for objective and thorough technical advisory is ensured, covering every stage from nominee nominations to grantee designation. The US, Canada, Mexico, Guatemala, Costa Rica, Brazil, Panama, Peru, Argentina, and Columbia are the ten nations that are invited to submit applications for this round of the grant.

In addition, HCLTech stated that it is dedicated to reaching net zero emissions by 2040 and a 50 percent reduction in scope 1 and 2 emissions by 2030. The company has cut per capita scope 1 and 2 emissions by 22 percent from the baseline year of FY20.

It is the first IT services provider with an Indian base to support the CEO Water Mandate and join the Water Resilience Coalition.

Since 2016, the HCLTech Grant initiative has provided funding to India-based NGOs for projects focused on the environment, healthcare, and education.

Till date, it has committed almost $16 million to initiatives that support those who are marginalized, under-served, or live in rural areas with few resources. Over five million people have benefited from the HCLTech Grant, which has an impact on over 27,000 villages in 22 Indian states. It also supports long-term socioeconomic growth.
