India Hits $47 Billion Electronics Export Milestone

Arunachal Pradesh Chief Minister Pema Khandu stated that India's electronics exports surpassing the $47 billion milestone are due to "decisive leadership and consistent reforms" implemented by Prime Minister Narendra Modi, rather than mere coincidence.

He referred to the accomplishment as a solid illustration of the success of the Make in India program.

India's achievement of $47 billion in electronics exports is not a coincidence. The chief minister stated in a post on X that it is the outcome of strong leadership and ongoing reforms led by PM Shri Narendra Modi Ji.

Emphasizing important statistics for calendar year 2025 (CY25), the chief minister stated that India achieved $47 billion in electronics exports, reflecting a 37 percent increase compared to the previous year.

"Close to $30 billion of this originated from PLI-supported smartphone production," Khandu emphasized, highlighting the effect of the Production Linked Incentive (PLI) program on local manufacturing.

He additionally noted that exports of iPhones reached $22 billion, representing 46 percent of the overall electronics exports.

"Approximately 75 percent of smartphone exports are now produced in India," he mentioned, describing it as a significant change from the nation's prior reliance on imports.

Khandu mentioned that in terms of monthly performance, electronics exports reached $4.17 billion in December, indicating the sector's ongoing momentum.

He mentioned that electronics exports surpassed the $4 billion threshold in seven of the 12 months of 2025, reflecting consistent growth over the year.

Khandu stated that electronics has become India's third-largest export sector, growing swiftly in the last five years.

"Transitioning from relying on imports to emerging as the third-largest electronics exporter globally demonstrates the potential of targeted policy and active industry involvement," he stated.

The chief minister noted that electronics ranked as one of the fastest-growing export sectors in 2025.
