India’s Western Railway, which is mostly on the run, has stationed 470 video cameras that feature Ntech Lab’s real-time face recognition technology. Ntech Lab, a globally renowned pioneer in video analytics unveiled this technology about a month ago and many firms have already taken a liking to this technology.

Currently, 30 railway stations across the western Indian states of Gujarat and Maharashtra including the city of Mumbai have glued this technology on their platforms.

By counting passenger traffic at any given time on the network, the video analytics system will be utilized to influence strategy. It will also be used to track down criminals and locate missing people.

Together with Technosys Security Systems, the project was completed. NtechLab was also recognized as an approved provider of high quality by the Research Designs and Standards Organisation (RDSO), a technical adviser and consultant to Indian Railways.

CIO Insider reported that this technology meticulously counts people, compares their faces to surveillance databases, and notifies the user when a match is found.

Face recognition technology can detect emotions even if a person wears a beard, spectacles, or a medical mask. The ability of FindFace Multi to support an infinite number of video streams and face database entries is a key element that ensures the system's scalability. Using a sophisticated criteria-based face search, a suspect can be videotaped, discovered, and tracked in a single second.

“The camerathe system will be used on the busiest section of the network and ensure simultaneous recognition of up to 50 people in a single frame. It was a complex challenge but we were able to successfully address it efficiently and on schedule”, says Andrei Telenkov, CEO, NtechLab.

Images are compared with a database of wanted individuals. If there is a match, it notifies law enforcement immediately. The entire process, from the appearance of the person in front of a camera to law enforcement receiving a signal, takes less than three seconds. This enables a fast response to situations as they develop,” adds Telenkov

Vehicle recognition determines the kind of body, color, manufacturer, and model of the car, as well as license plates. The strategy works even if license plates or other features of the car are not visible.

With silhouette recognition, users can count, search, and track motions with excellent accuracy. The technique uses height, clothing color, and accessories to distinguish individuals while recognizing outwardly identical persons. For example, this function can be used to calculate the number of trips to shopping malls and other commercial venues.

NtechLab's entry into India is part of a bigger business decision and global expansion strategy aimed at capturing new markets in the Gulf, Latin America, and South Asia.

This falls true as Liana Meliksetyan, Chief Commercial Officer, Ntech Lab, added that the company has partners across India and is still looking forward to onboard more.

Meliksetyan further went on to say that, “faced with a choice of dozens of major global suppliers the Western Railway chose NtechLab, demonstrating the reliability and quality of our face recognition system which is already confirmed in Russia with significant deployments. Before the year’s end, we plan to complete at least three more video analytics projects in India in the fields of retail, education, and entertainment”.

“Our video analytics technology employs high-precision, real-time face recognition mode, in the video stream. Images are compared with a database of wanted individuals. If there is a match, it notifies law enforcement immediately. The entire process, from the appearance of the person in front of a camera to law enforcement receiving a signal, takes less than three seconds. This enables a fast response to situations as they develop,” adds Telenkov.
