Karnataka Plans to Expand ARTPARK with New AI and Robotics Innovation
Karnataka plans to expand the Artificial Intelligence and Robotics Technology Park (ARTPARK) through new initiatives, including the Bangalore Robotics and AI Innovation Zone (BRAINZ), ArtGarage and ArtLabs, to strengthen research, prototyping, manufacturing and development in emerging technologies.
Priyank Kharge, Minister for Electronics, Information Technology and Biotechnology, met the ARTPARK team on Thursday to discuss the proposed expansion and plans to strengthen the state’s artificial intelligence (AI) and robotics ecosystem.
The proposed BRAINZ initiative is envisioned as a collaborative space bringing together startups, researchers, academic institutions and industry players to develop solutions in AI, robotics and related enabling technologies. The initiative aims to encourage collaboration and help translate research outcomes into practical applications.
Meanwhile, ArtGarage and ArtLabs are expected to provide facilities and support for prototyping, manufacturing, testing and shared research and development (R&D). These initiatives are intended to strengthen the infrastructure required to move innovative ideas from the research stage towards product development and real-world deployment.
“Our next priority is to strengthen the capabilities that will help us move from research to real-world applications,” Kharge said, highlighting the importance of building capabilities that can support the practical implementation of technological innovations.
The planned expansion comes as Karnataka continues to strengthen its position as a technology and innovation hub, with a focus on developing advanced capabilities in AI, robotics and other emerging fields. Improved access to prototyping facilities, testing infrastructure and collaborative research spaces could help startups and research institutions advance their technologies and explore commercial applications.

The focus on prototyping, manufacturing and R&D is expected to support the development of technologies with practical applications across sectors
The Centre for Cellular and Molecular Platforms (C-CAMP), headquartered in Bengaluru, is also among the five selected organisations.
Through the proposed initiatives, Karnataka aims to strengthen links between research, industry and entrepreneurship, while building the infrastructure needed to accelerate innovation in AI and robotics. The focus on prototyping, manufacturing and R&D is expected to support the development of technologies with practical applications across sectors.
