MeitY, Unesco Talk Ethical Use of AI in Stakeholder Consultation
The Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology (MeitY) and the United Nations Educational, Scientific, and Cultural Organization (Unesco) gathered for a stakeholder consultation in Delhi this week to measure how far the nation is prepared for the ethical use of artificial intelligence.
The consultation spoke in emphasis of the "IndiaAI Mission," which is organized around seven fundamental pillars, primarily centered on “Safe and Trusted AI”, to shape the country in a way that could influence international standards in AI governance.
On that accord, the consultation laid down a set six major objectives, which also include advocating best practices that support ethical governance, safety, and security in AI, as well as showcasing practical applications.
During the event, MeitY Secretary Shri S. Krishnan explained India's strategy approach, including the "Safe and Trusted AI" pillar, saying that end users, developers, the government, and civil society all share responsibilities for ensuring AI safety.
He brought about the need for imposing policies that protect security, privacy, and transparency as a means that could aid innovation and adhere to international AI standards.

Singh placed more emphasis on the role that UNESCO has played in carrying out assessments of AI readiness. He explained the "Seven Pillars" of the IndiaAI Mission, emphasizing compute power, wide-ranging dataset accessibility, comprehensive skill-development programs, and moral governance structures.
India's AI journey is observed to have advanced greatly with the Stakeholder Consultation, as it is said to reflect the meeting of local goals with global ethics. India's proactive participation in international AI ethics highlights its willingness to take the lead as AI continues to influence economies and societies. India shows its commitment to responsible AI deployment that benefits society and preserves democratic principles by proactively addressing ethical concerns. This consultation demonstrates India's resolve to apply AI for the benefit of society and the IndiaAI Mission, which aims to lead the world in the responsible, ethical, and safe use of AI.
