Ola, ride sharing app establishes Ola Cars, a new vehicle commerce platform that allows vehicle purchase and ownership experience for customers and Arun Sirdeshmukh has been named Chief Executive Officer under this new venture.

Sirdeshmukh has worked in the consumer internet, FMCG, retail, and fashion industries for over 30 years, notably at Amazon India, Reliance Trends, and IBM Global Services. He will be in charge of the company's whole sales and distribution, service, marketing, customer support, and go-to-market strategy.

Ola Cars CEO Sirdeshmukh states that the company has always been committed to bringing technology-driven solutions to improve the mobility experience of its customers. He proclaims that the new venture is fundamentally reinventing not only purchasing and selling cars, but also vehicle finance, insurance, and maintenance. Customers will have a digital-first experience from beginning to end.

It will compete with Droom, CarDekho, Cars24, Spinny, Carwale, and CarTrade, among others.

"Over the coming six months, we want to rapidly grow across India and worldwide markets, as well as develop new verticals in this industry, such as pre-owned 2W (wheeler) and new cars”, expresses Sirdeshmukh.

Ola Cars will start with pre-owned automobiles and gradually expand to include new vehicles from Ola Electric and other automakers. According to the company, it will provide them with a unified platform with unmatched reach and awareness of consumers' mobility needs. Ola Cars will expand to over 100 cities by next year, starting with 30 locations.

Ola Cars will allow users to purchase both new and used cars using the Ola App, with customers being able to choose from a variety of services, including vehicle purchase, financing, and insurance, registration, maintenance, including vehicle health diagnostics and service, accessories, and resale of the vehicle back to Ola Cars.

It will be a one-stop shop for customers who want to buy, sell, and manage their cars with ease.

Ola Cars is one of three pillars that make up Ola's bigger concept of New Mobility. It includes 'new mobility services’, which will extend from 150 to 500 cities and reach a population of 500 million people. It also incorporates electric vehicles (EVs) in existing and new vehicle form factors to provide people with cleaner, more efficient, and more economical transportation.

There is also ‘new auto retail,' which will significantly improve a customer's complete vehicle ownership lifetime. Over a billion individuals will have access to mobility solutions that are tailored to them as 'new mobility' becomes mainstream.

"I'm excited to collaborate with Arun (Sirdeshmukh) and help construct this essential pillar of our New Mobility concept”, Bhavish Aggarwal, Co-Founder and CEO, Ola.
