In 2021, Tesla Inc., delivered almost one billion electric vehicles (EV) all around the world, which immensely boosted its target of increasing deliveries by 50 percent. In total, the next generation EV company sold 936,000 of its vehicles that is twice more than what it did the previous year.

Tesla had announced in January that it hoped to raise deliveries by 50 percent each year over the next several years, and the numbers well exceeded that ambition.

Out of most of its models, it seems that the Tesla Model 3 and Model Y were the most popular EVs from the company, with 911,208 units delivered in total. Following that, 24,964 Model S and Model X units were sold. These are Tesla's luxury models, which cost about $100,000.

While the global shortage of silicon chips persists, the pandemic has been a massive challenge.

Tesla has been able to overcome the auto industry's global logistics problems. Technoking Elon Musk previously stated that by employing new chip designs and rewriting software, he was able to circumvent much of the semiconductor scarcity.

Tesla gained another boost in October when the rental giant Hertz placed an order for 100,000 electric vehicles to be delivered by 2022.

This news nudged the automaker into joining a limited group of corporations with a market capitalization of more than $1 trillion.

Tesla has also been scrutinized by safety agencies in nations such as China and the US, with the most current investigation into the autopilot functionality by the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) in the US.

Following a government safety inquiry, the automaker has also agreed to upgrade its software to prevent drivers from playing video games on the car's system while it is in motion.

Musk recently took to Twitter to express his gratitude to Tesla employees for going above and beyond during the holidays to guarantee that deliveries were completed on time. Musk became the world's wealthiest person in 2021, and his rise has been fueled by Tesla's great performance.
