The Ayushman Bharat Digital flagged off under the administration of the Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi to establish an impeccable online platform welcoming information sharing within the healthcare ecosystem.

The three key focus of this initiative will be provision of a health ID, a healthcare professional registry and healthcare facilities registries for the citizens.

With the inclusion of technology the initiative will help enhance the access to healthcare, enabling citizens to access these facilities conveniently and make room for new innovations in the sector.

Otherwise known as Pradhan Mantri Digital Health Mission or the National Digital Health Mission (NDHM) and over one lakh health IDs have been created under the NDHM.

It Is in sync with the National Health Authority (NHA) and is celebrating the third anniversary of the Ayushman Bharat Pradhan Mantri Jan Arogya Yojana. Currently, the initiative is being implemented in six states including union territories in a pilot phase.

The PM assures that the newly launched mission will help eliminate problems of medical treatment in the economically backward and middle class

As the PM puts it, “digital health solutions will be connected across the country thanks to Ayushman Bharat Digital Mission. Citizens will not only receive a digital health ID under the initiative but their health record will also be digitally secure”. This the PM marks by highlighting that digitalization will make healthcare easier.

This health ID is said to act as a health account with the linked personal health record being viewed on mobile applications. However, the access and exchange of longitudinal health records of the citizens will be allowed only with their consent.

A bit more about the health ID is that the account will hold details from every test, disease, doctor visit, medicine taken to diagnosis done. Since the information comes off as portable by nature, it is much useful for easy access even if the individual shifts to a new place and visits a new doctor.

It takes an individual;’s basic details, mobile number and Aadhaar card to create this ID and no charges are included, meaning it comes free of cost.

The ID is believed to serve much help when it comes to analysis of health data and lead to better planning, budgeting, as well as implementation for healthcare programs.

The Government of India states that the Pradhan Mantri Digital Health Mission will layforth an online platform offering a variety of data and infrastructure services. It will also deliver interoperable, standards-based digital systems while ensuring the security, confidentiality and privacy of health-related personal information.

The PM assures that the newly launched mission will help eliminate problems of medical treatment in the economically backward and middle class. This is the day that marks the power to bring a revolutionary change in India’s healthcare facilities.
