After Malcom Frank, Rajesh Nambiar steps in as the new President, Digital Business and Technology (DB&T) as the US-based IT major, Cognizant. Nambiar, who had functioned as chairman, is said to take effect soon after Frank’s stepping down on September 1, 2021.

"On May 28, 2021, Malcolm Frank, Executive Vice President and President, Digital Business and Technology, told Cognizant Technology Solutions Corporation of his plan to retire, effective September 1, 2021”, according to a regulatory filing.

On the other hand, the filing stated that Rajesh Nambiar, Cognizant India's Executive Vice President and Chairman, will take over as President (Digital Business and Technology) on June 4, 2021, succeeding Frank.

Rajesh Nambiar, Cognizant India's Executive Vice President and Chairman, will take over as President (Digital Business and Technology) on June 4, 2021, following Frank.

Nambiar will continue to serve as India chairman. Meanwhile, Frank will work until September 1, 2021, when he will retire, to assist with the transition.

The new president had earlier functioned as the company’s chairman and managing director, as well as being the member of the company’s executive committee since November 9, 2020.

Prior to his joining at Cognizant, Nambiar worked at Ciena, a networking, systems, and software firm, as its chairman and president of India operations.

He is also said to have spent his career years at IBM as well as Tata Consultancy Services (TCS) among others.

According to Cognizant’s Chief Executive Officer (CEO) Brian Humphries, Rajesh brings extensive and rich expertise in technology, commercial, and delivery to his new job, as well as a comprehensive knowledge of apps, data, AI (artificial intelligence), analytics, infrastructure, cloud and consulting. He went on to say that since Rajesh is situated in India, he will be able to drive better DB&T alignment with deliveries.

"This is in addition to his excellent work in establishing and conducting 'Operation C3 - Cognizant Combats COVID-19.' Rajesh offers a wealth of experience in apps, data, artificial intelligence, analytics, infrastructure, cloud, and consulting to his new position "Humphries went on to say.

In January of this year, two service lines, Digital Business and Digital Systems and Technology, were merged to form Digital Business and Technology, or DB&T for short.

DBT encompasses cutting-edge technology such as artificial intelligence, Internet of Things (IoT), cloud enablement, and core modernization, all of which are in high demand right now.

According to a senior Cognizant employee, the change in the company's operations is in response to customer requirements. Under the new service line, sales teams will be able to focus more on DBT, which is where the demand lies.
