Flipkart Records 1.4 Billion Customer Visits

In the first seven days of their holiday sale, The Big Billion Days (TBBD), e-commerce company Flipkart claimed to have seen 1.4 billion customer visits.

Prior to the official launch on October 8, VIP and Plus subscribers were given early access on October 7.

Orders placed by Plus members, who are members of its reward program, increased 7X above daily sales, according to the domestic e-commerce platform.

"Reflecting an overall uptick in consumer sentiment, the 10th edition of TBBD witnessed a record 1.4 billion customer visits over early access and seven days of the shopping festival," Flipkart said

The e-commerce giant claimed that it shipped goods to far-off places like the Andaman Islands, Hayuliang in Arunachal Pradesh, Choglamsar in Ladakh, Kutch in Gujarat, and Longewala in Rajasthan.

According to Flipkart, the artisan community it onboarded through its Samarth program saw a six-fold increase in growth over the pre-festive period.

Categories like mobiles, appliances, lifestyle, beauty and general merchandise (BGM), electronics, and home experienced the highest customer demand during this period. Smartphones in the Rs 20,000+ segment saw a notable increase in demand among both metro and tier 2+ audiences. Lifestyle, electronics, and BGM played a significant role in acquiring new customers, the company claimed.

Products in grooming, food and nutrition, make-up and fragrances segments too saw heightened demand during early access and day 1 of the sale event.

According to Flipkart, orders placed for lifestyle merchants on the marketplace increased by 10X when compared to the pre-festive period. Furniture and electronics orders increased by 8X and 7X, respectively.

"This year also saw the largest fleet of women wishmasters compared to the previous TBBD editions. Flipkart's Kirana partners delivered over four million packages in the first four days of TBBD'23,"

The cities with the most shoppers were Bangalore, Delhi, and Hyderabad, followed by Mumbai, Pune, Ahmedabad, Kolkata, Chennai, and Gurgaon. Among the top cities that experienced an increase in orders were Patna, Hisar, and Lucknow.
