Karnataka Government to Build Tech and Innovation Museum in Bengaluru

According to reports, Chief Minister Basavaraj Bommai revealed that the government is planning to build a tech and innovation museum in Bengaluru.

It will be India’s first innovation museum India's tech capital will have built to international standards.

Bommai says, “I want to announce another project which will motivate our present and future generation. I want to tell the story of all ignited minds of Karnataka, the history and journey of innovation. It will showcase what Bangalore is today and people who are responsible and their achievements.”

The museum will be built in the NGEF site at Baiyappanahalli and merge with the upcoming tree park.

The major components of the museum includes, Bengaluru’s tech, startup and innovation landscape and serve as a one-point store to explore and understand the city’s fruition from a pensioner's paradise to the country's tech capital, capturing its past, present and future.

CN Ashwath Narayan, IT/BT Minister of the state says, “The museum will showcase Bengaluru’s tech, startup and innovation landscape and serve as a one-point resource to explore and understand the city’s evolution from a pensioner's paradise to the country's tech capital, capturing its past, present and future.”

Narayan says, “Experiential and dynamic, the museum will actively document the rapid and constant shifts in the city’s tech, innovation and startup ecosystem.”

Globally, leading tech hubs like Tel Aviv and Seattle have underlined their tech legacies through museums. Peres Centre for Peace and Innovation in Tel Aviv and Bezos Centre of Innovation in Seattle are great recent examples

Prashanth Prakash, Chairman at both Karnataka's Startup Vision Group and UnboxingBLR Foundation says, “The government in collaboration with industries, will build the museum at a cost of about Rs. 100 crore and the project may take about 18-24 months for completion.”

“Globally, leading tech hubs like Tel Aviv and Seattle have underlined their tech legacies through museums. Peres Centre for Peace and Innovation in Tel Aviv and Bezos Centre of Innovation in Seattle are great recent examples. We hope our museum will add Bengaluru to this global list,” adds Prakash.
