
LG Electronics Builds Third Plant in Sri City, Chennai

To strengthen its position in the rapidly expanding household appliance industry, LG Electronics has begun construction on its third plant in India, located in Sri City, Chennai.
According to the company, LG Electronics executives, including President Lyu Jae-cheol, head of the home appliance division, and local officials, including Andhra Pradesh's minister for human resources development Nara Lokesh, will attend the plant's groundbreaking ceremony in Sri City, an industrial hub in the eastern state of Andhra Pradesh.
In an effort to strengthen its position in the rapidly expanding household appliance industry, LG Electronics is starting construction on a new facility in India.
According to the company, LG Electronics executives, including President Lyu Jae-cheol, head of the home appliance division, and local officials, including Andhra Pradesh's minister for human resources development Nara Lokesh, will attend the plant's groundbreaking ceremony in Sri City, an industrial hub in the eastern state of Andhra Pradesh.
The project is expected to start production by the end of 2026 and will require an expenditure of US$600 million. According to the Yonhap news agency, it will boast an annual capacity of 800,000 refrigerators, 850,000 washing machines, 1.5 million air conditioners, and 2 million air conditioner compressors. After factories in the southern city of Pune, Maharashtra, and the northern city of Noida, Uttar Pradesh, it will be LG Electronics' third production facility in India.

According to LG Electronics, the new facility will improve its domestic supply chain and bolster its market dominance in India's expanding consumer durables sector.
