Twitter to Allow Users to Flag Offensive Content

Reports suggest that Twitter is working on new feature to allow users to flag the offensive content. Initially the new feature was offered for selected web users, but according to reports, the company is planning to offer a new feature to iOS and Android users.
Twitter has been testing the new feature and has shared few insights as to why Twitter users preferred to downvote. Besides, it is quite similar to the ‘Like’ and ‘Dislike’ feature on YouTube but not exactly same. Users can also upvote any reply.
According to the reports, a majority of users shared that the reason they clicked the down arrow was either due to the reply being perceived as offensive, or that they perceived it as not relevant, or both.
The new feature of Twitter can also be used as dissenting option. It is seen that in the past people targeted any person due to his/her identity, affiliation, religion, sex, culture, etc. and mass troll them. The proposed downvoting could be little more problematic but it is still in its early days.
people who have tested downvoting agree it improves the quality of conversations on Twitter. We're excited to see how others think of it as it becomes available to more of you
Reports suggest that, Twitter downvote adds another option to the users that might be rolled out soon. This experiment also revealed that downvoting is the most frequently used way for people to flag content they don't want to see.
Twitter says, “finally, people who have tested downvoting agree it improves the quality of conversations on Twitter. We're excited to see how others think of it as it becomes available to more of you.”
