Homegrown IT major Wipro hopes to strongly forge its commitment with clients and stakeholders in Australia and New Zealand (ANZ) through the acquisition of Ampion, a leading Australia-based provider of cybersecurity, DevOps and quality engineering services.

Wipro, declared that it has signed a pact to acquire Ampion for $117 million in cash, in order to bolster its footing in Australia and New Zealand. The deal is scheduled to close in the second quarter of 2021, subject to customary closing conditions and regulatory approvals.

The company elucidated that it believes that the combined offerings with Ampion, which is boosted by engineering transformation, DevOps and security consulting services, will bring scale and agility to respond to the growing demands of its customers. This may serve helpful to the Australian market, which is being hit with a lot of disruptions that came with after the acquisition of cloud, DevOps, analytics and resilience oriented digital capabilities across businesses and public sector entities

Prior to this acquisition, the company made a $1.45 billion purchase of Capco, British consulting company. Its new operating model emphasizes on strategic investments covering aspects such as geographies, proximity to customers, agility, scale and localization. As such, the acquisition of Ampion is a very important step for Wipro in this line.
