India and US-based DevOps platform for devices, Esper raised $ 60 million in a Series C funding round led by Insight Partners, and it plans on using the funds for the expansion of its abilities to get a hold for more enterprise customers.

Founded in 2018 by Shiv Sundar and Yadhu Gopalan, the company’s device infrastructure helps developers as well as mid-market organizations to deliver software as a service. The company has over 200 paying customers and over 2,000 developers using its platform to develop products. Since last year to this year, the company has witnessed a four-time revenue growth.

Esper's total funding now stands at $100 million, following a $30 million Series B investment four months ago in May 2021. Indian businesses may use Android DevOps to supply contactless services across a wide range of industries, including hospitality, restaurants, healthcare, education, and logistics. Esper powers and manages devices for some of the world's most well-known brands, like Cult.Fit and Teach for India.

Since the pandemic, India has seen extraordinary digital transformation, making it a unique market with the opportunity to adopt DevOps across all industries, according to Gopalan, CEO and co-founder of Esper.

One of the ways the company is keeping up with demand is by allowing companies to sign up and try out the platform for free with 100 devices. It also collaborates with others and develops new channels.

However, he points out that the industry is about 10 years behind where it should be, which is the gap that Esper is filling.

While it may be behind the times, the Internet of Things is not slowing down. By 2027, the sector is predicted to be worth $1.1 trillion, with 30.9 billion active IoT-connected devices. Gadgets utilized in travel, restaurants, and warehouses, as well as medical devices, fitness equipment, and in-store kiosks, fall under the enterprise category.

Sundar, Esper's COO and co-founder, states that the company currently employs 83 people in India. Esper's main DevOps platform is designed and engineered by Esper's India team. He went on to say that the company plans to hire 200 people in India by 2022.

“We've been seeing these enormous estimates about IoT devices of various kinds for years now. On the ground, however, corporations and SMBs are grappling with the reality that large-scale device deployments are difficult and costly when done alone, according to Philine Huizing, Vice President, Insight Partners.

“Esper has emerged as the sole platform that combines modern DevOps skills with an intelligent edge device-specific bundle. Even better, developers tell us how much they enjoy working with Esper”, he continues.

Scale Venture Partners, Madrona Ventures, and Root Ventures were among the existing investors in this round of fundraising.
