
PM Chose Mandi to Commence Rs.11,000 Worth Hydropower Projects

To mark the beginning of hydropower projects weighing over Rs.11,000 crores, Prime Minister Narendra Modi has chosen Mandi in Himachal Pradesh and is expected to arrive for the same at 12 noon today.
Having been on hold for three decades the project, Renukaji Dam project, is believed that it has now come to life thanks to the cooperative federalism of the PM when six states namely Himachal Pradesh, Uttar Pradesh, Haryana, Rajasthan, Uttarakhand and Delhi were called for by the Center to make this project possible.
Rs.7000 crore will be applied for the building of this project in hopes of greatly benefiting Delhi by enabling 500 million cubic meter annual water supply.
But before the PM could make it to the project, he will preside over the second-ground breaking ceremony Himachal Pradesh Global Investors' Meet at around 11:30 am.
One of the steps in this regard has been to optimally utilize the hydropower potential in the Himalayan region
Additionally, the PM will be inaugurating the Sawra-Kuddu Hydro Power Project of 111 MW that was built at the price of Rs.2080 crore. This project will take the front row in attracting 380 million units of electricity per year while helping fetch a revenue above Rs.120 crore.
Other projects starting their journey are the Luhri Stage 1 Hydro Power Project and Dhaulasidh Hydro Power Project. The former, 210 MW project, will be built at a cost of over ₹ 1800 crore. It will lead to generation of over 750 million units of electricity per year. The modern and dependable grid support will prove beneficial to surrounding states of the region as well.
The latter, believed to be the first hydropower project of Hamirpur district, is a 66 MW project to be built at the cost of more than Rs.680 crore. This project will spearhead the supply of over 300 million electricity units every year.
The PM is constantly viewed focusing on fully utilizing the untapped potential of the resources available in the country. One of the steps in this regard has been to optimally utilize the hydropower potential in the Himalayan region. The projects which will be inaugurated and whose foundation stone will be laid by the PM during the visit reflect a key step in this direction.
