Rivian Automotive to Construct Second US Assembly Plant

Currently, the talk of the town is that electric vehicle (EV) startup Rivian Automotive, with the support of Amazon.com Inc., aims at erecting not only a US assembly plant named 'Mission Tera', but a battery cell production as well. This US assembly plant happens to be the EV startup’s second manufacturing facility and the processes have already commenced.
Its cell production is backed by other automakers and Samsung SDI Co is helping supply battery cells to it.
The company expects that its second US assembly plant will increase its capability as well as embody a 50 gigawatt hour battery cell manufacturing operation inbuilt phases, including a product and know-how middle line with paperwork.
Mission Tera paperwork is underway and is projected to be unleashed within a few months and is expected to start functioning early next year. But several US states have already thrown their bid towards the facility. The announcement had already been impacted with delay thanks to the coronavirus and could still be affected by it.
However, 2021 has been a strong year for Rivian, as Chief Executive R.J. Scaringe told that COVID-19 had delayed the debut of its vehicles. The R1initial T's deliveries, which were previously scheduled for July, have been put back to September, while the R1S has been pushed back to the fall
Also the proposal included that the assembly plant will require about 2,000 acres of land, and like most companies involved in achieving net-zero emissions, the company has kept that in mind for its new location as well.
In general a new vehicle assembly plant costs around $ 1 billion or so, while a battery manufacturing plant costs at $ 2 billion
