Twitter Serves New Changes to its Newly Rebuilt API for Third-Party Developers

Third-party developers step right in to behold Twitter’s new changes brought to its newly rebuilt API (Application Program Interface) that helps build tools and other solutions specifically for its audio chat room, Twitter Spaces.
The microblogging site unveiled a fresh set of endpoints under the Twitter v2 API that support places and was built with an initial objective of facilitating live or planned place discovery.
Developers will be able to access two new endpoints, Spaces lookup and Spaces search, to seek up live and scheduled Spaces using particular criteria, such as the Spaces ID, user ID, or keywords, according to Twitter.
The Spaces lookup endpoint also allows you to learn about the public metadata and metrics associated with a Space, such as the number of participants, speakers, host profile information, detected language, start time, scheduled start time, creation time, status, and whether or not the Space is ticketed.
Additionally, developers can expect an API update on the house that will encourage them to build more tools for Spaces hosts in the future.
On the other hand, it’s said that developers intend to provide tools that would allow Spaces hosts to better analyze how well their audio discussions are performing, according to the developers.
However, with today's API update, most of these options are not on the table. Therefore, the microblogging site has only stated that it is exploring new features, such as tools that would allow developers to integrate reminders into their products, as well as tools that would allow developers to surface specific metrics fields available in the API or construct analytics dashboards.
It’s said that these ideas for new endpoints have yet to be included in Twitter's Developer Platform Roadmap.
Last year, Twitter unveiled its completely revamped API, with the intention of updating its developer platform while also making it easier to add support for emerging Twitter features at a faster rate. For one, that goal being put into action is the new API support for Twitter Spaces.
Several developers had been attending a weekly Spaces held by Daniele Bernardi from the Twitter Spaces team, and they were already aware of upcoming changes. Developers that have access to the v2 API can start creating with the new endpoints today, but no new experiences are ready to go at this time. Bernardi will also conduct another Spaces event today at 12 p.m. PT to discuss the API upgrade and what's to come, according to Twitter.
Additionally, developers can expect an API update on the house that will encourage them to build more tools for Spaces hosts in the future.
The microblogging site believes that developers can frame new solutions that are easier for users both on and off Twitter when it comes to locating Twitter Spaces with its already existing API update. Meaning, it hopes to expand Spaces’ reach, while bringing its audio chats to a wider audience, giving Twitter an advantage in the increasingly competitive audio-based social networking scene.
The reason for this is that, currently, Spaces is competing not only with Clubhouse, but also with Facebook, Discord, Reddit, Public.com, Spotify, and other smaller social apps that offer audio chat.
